Not all the villas and condos have phones for guest's use. If you want to use your cell phone, your might need to call your provider before you arrive to check that you have the right plan.
Telmex prepaid cards are usually cheaper than using your cell phone.
Credit Card
Don’t forget to call your bank to advise you will be using it in Mexico, so they don’t think it has been stolen! The closest ATM is at HSBC, on Juarez Avenue between 10th and 15th (pesos or dollars). Also to get US Dollars you can go to Scotiabank, on Constituyentes and 10th Avenue.
Currency
Most places accept US Dollars, but ask for the rate each time! You can exchange money in a lot of places along the 5th avenue (signs that read “CAMBIO”), however if you have time, you will get a much better rate at the bank or if you withdraw from the ATM. Note that it is better to exchange money in Playa del Carmen than in Cancun airport.

Note: It is prohibited to sell liquors in stores before 9am, and after 11pm. (10am until 5pm on Sundays).
Books
Many units have a library with books, however please do not take travel books that should remain in the condo for everyone’s use.
